2015 Sendai Symposium on Sewerage Works Disaster Risk Reduction

 Due to the invitation of Japan Ministry of Land Infrastructure and Tourism, Oğuzhan ÖCAL- Civil Engineer from our General Directorate participated “2015 Sendai Symposium on Sewerage Works Disaster Risk Reduction” that is held on 17-18th March, 2015, in Sendai, Japan. Infrastructural studies of our General Directorate about the related legislation and applications in our country, the law no.6306 and the statutory decree no.644 are presented within the framework of the symposium activity plan.

“2015 Sendai Symposium on Sewerage Works Disaster Risk Reduction” which is arranged due to the fourth anniversary of the 9.0 Mw big earthquake that took place in Tohoku on 11st March, 2011, commenced with a technical visit on 17th March, 2015, to Minami-Gamo treatment plants that are reconstructed after being inoperable because of the tsunami as a result of the earthquake. Then our General Directorate made a presentation named “Turkey is getting Prepared to Disasters with Urban Transformation”. Following this, EICA, Ishinomaki City, Japan Instittute of Wastewater Engineering and Technology and Japan Sewage Works Association Institutions presented Impacts of Tsunami and Post–Ttsunami Activities in Sendai. Our delegate participated reception and made a short speech after an introductory film of Istanbul.

On 18th March, 2015, the Symposium continued at the Sendai Civic Auditorium. After the opening speeches on the second day of the Symposium, considerations related to social innovations at the infrastructural works under the impact of tsunami and the great Japan earthquake is presented and a panel is made related to restoration and reconstruction of Minami-Gamo treatment plants. The symposium where the studies of Disaster Risk Reduction, Possible Risks at Infrastructural Works and International Technical Cooperation Management took place ended on 18th March,2015.
